As always, I have produced a book of my trip's photographs and this time it is an epic 320 page monster. There is a link to it on the right with all the others.

The trip was truly amazing, getting us closer than ever to bigger than ever elephants on foot in the wild.

However, when we get into doing major site updates for my own work, it is a good opportunity to do some updates here too.

Made For Android has just been given a major revamp. I am now pushing the imminent arrival of BirdLister, a Bird-watchers logging app for android. I am going to release the Isle of Man version for free, but the versions for other countries will be paid-for.

To help with future support for the app, I have included a user forum on the site, using the brilliantly simple FlooBB to avoid having to use a database on the site. This is just like the method used to make this blog without needing MySQL.

Firstly, PhotoSite Manager is the thing I am now using to build the album section on my photo website at http://www.dkinrade.com. It offers a visual album creator and editor with basic cropping and sizing functions. It takes this information and builds an index and web pages for my site. I hope to produce a commercial version of this soon, as a couple of my customers are interested.

Secondly, SimpleShop is a fully-featured shopping website creation and management program. it lets a client enter stock, choose a site layout, import graphics and text, all in a single application. Once everything is set up, it creates all the pages for the site and uploads it to the client's server. It's a big application and has been created for a customer who doesn't want to pay the £50 per month that VENDA / POWA need to do the same thing.

It isn't yet as polished as the VENDA solution, but it does the basics for a lot less money. I have a few ideas for simple APPS for ANDROID, and have created a new little web site to let people know what I'm up to. The narrow nature of the site is to make it easy to navigate on a mobile device and is deliberate. I hope most of the visitors to the site will be using mobiles.

Within the next few weeks I hope to have some of the apps online, bot in the popular app stores and also at the new site.

I have been working on lots of different projects, but the newest one to go online is at tablet-test.com. It is a site dedicated to testing and reviewing all manner of tablet and slate devices.

I am in the process of starting to code for Android and it seemed like a goos thing to give a try. We have a range of tablet devices in the shop and this gives me a chance to start the review process off.

They have been monumentally successful, getting as many as 1000 visitors a day and loads of positive feedback and traffic, particularly during the TT period.

I have also been playing around with their output and we have produced a couple of YouTube videos and a DVD of the view of Parliament Square in Ramsey during the 24 hours of Mad Sunday (6th June). It has made me really interested i the possibility of using these web-cams for time-lapse photography and i intend to spend some time on a related project in the next few days.

We also have three cams now, and at least one more to go into the Town Hall. I am using a lot of javascript includes to make site maintenance easier and have written a custom application to manage all aspects of the site. It will stand me in good stead when I come to do the shopping system I have promised for people who cannot afford VENDA fees.

I have also managed to finish the books I have been working on for my friends Michael Starkey and Frank Crompton. That's three new books in the last two weeks, with at least two more being worked on at present.

After seeing some working examples we finally settled on a y-Cam. They seem to be pretty good for the money and not as expensive as some would be. Our first camera is up and running at the above site. We hope to have some more working in the next couple of weeks and then can really get the site going.
